Critical Incidents and Trauma Memories
“We have learned that trauma is not just an event that took place sometime in the past; it is also the imprint left by that experience on mind, brain, and body. This imprint has ongoing consequences for how the human organism manages to survive in the present."
Bessel A. van der Kolk, The Body Keeps the Score
No matter how much insight and understanding we develop, the rational brain is basically impotent to talk the emotional brain out of its own reality.

In December 2025, OverSights' provided new compelling evidence which was pivotal in a Gross Misconduct hearing involving a Merseyside police officer accused of lying and fabricating statements. This new evidence had been missed by both the Forces PSD and also the IOPC.

OverSights' has recently completed a detailed review of the fatal collision involving the Nottingham Post's former sports photographer Trevor Bartlett. Mr Bartlett was knocked over by a police van as he walked home across a pedestrian crossing in December 2023.
In 2026, OverSights' introduced expert memory research into a misconduct hearing for a school teacher accused of assaulting a young pupil. As a direct consequence of this submission, the allegation was dismissed.
